Chapter 2: The Dark Orb of Prophecy

Well-rested and well-equipped after their time in Twinmarsh, Artimus sends the team in search of the Dark Orb of Prophecy, a magical item that foretells dark aspects of the future. The orb is thought to be in possession of a shadar-kai named Thoran, using it to see his own future heinous acts and carry them out successfully.

[edit] 1: Kobolds in the Ruins
Approaching the ruins of Spellgard Tower, the group is ambushed by a group of five Kobolds.

The group finds a group of Wererats at the entrance of the ramparts.

[edit] 3: Fire Beetles and One More Wererat
Upstairs, the group finds fire beetles and another wererat.

Crossing the long hallway between the two small towers, the group find a pit trap and room with humans, spitting drakes, a bat, and yet another wererat.

[edit] 5: Gravewolf kennel
The group starts their trek underground, and finds another wererat and four decrepit zombie wolves.

Facing their biggest challenge yet, the group faces off against four wererats and a goblin hexer.

The group comes across three iron defender homunculi and the brother of the hexer they killed earlier, as well as a dart trap.
Treasure and XP - 800XP for the battle, 150XP for finding the catacombs.

The wererat elder and his minions are waiting for the group, looking to make sure they don't enter the catacombs alive.

[edit] 1: Servants' Vault
The group descends into the dark, damp catacombs and run into more bats and an undead skeleton.
Treasure and XP - 650 XP for the encounter, 125 XP for the trapped door.

The group runs into swarms of rats in another crypt.

In a room with high-walled crypts, the group runs into a group of undead and their leader.

In a two-room chamber, the group finds a small army of skeletons and their two specter leaders.

The group is surprised at the challenge one well-dressed dead man can provide...
Treasure and XP - 1,250XP for defeating Barthus, and 125XP for finding their way through the catacombs.
Notes - This is the last battle of the catacombs. The group gains level 4 with a combined XP total of 15,550.

The group finally makes it to the storerooms under the tower, but have some 8-legged surprises waiting for them...

Inside the tower proper, the group has to decide how to get around a caustic spray trap.

The group finds themselves in the tower kitchens, populated by a mage and quite a few Kobold cooks. Tower guards follow in quickly before the group even has a chance to rest.
Treasure and XP - 1,225 XP for defeating the guards, and 475 XP for defeating the kitchen staff.

Thinking they could get some fresh air, the adventurers find guards shooting at them from the top of the tower, and more running to attack.
