History: The first recorded dragonmarks were those that appeared on the halflings of the Talenta Plains 3200 years ago. This came to be known as the Mark of Hospitality and those halflings came together, taking the name Ghallanda, the "helpful hounds." When Karrn the Conqueror tried to conquer all of Khorvaire, the Mark of Hospitality was discovered and House Ghallanda was brought into the rest of Khorvaire society. Soon, House Ghallanda spread across the continent building inns and enclaves everywhere they went. During The Last War, House Ghallanda initially just supported House Deneith mercenaries. With their success in keeping those mercenaries fed and rested, other armies began hiring House Ghallanda members more directly. The members of the House attempted to avoid combat, but their close proximity to the armies would occasionally require them to engage in combat.
